Major Players Linked With Manchester United Moves Following Amorim Appointment
As Portuguese boss Ruben Amorim prepares to take over at Old Trafford following his move from Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United, a string of new targets have seemingly been placed on the Premier League team’s transfer wish list.
Unsurprisingly, a number of those said to be on their way to the club are those who have been performing wonder for Amorim at the Estadio Jose Alvalade. Manchester United fired Dutch boss Erik ten Hag in October with his team sitting in 14th place when he departed.
Ruud van Nistlerooy then took over as interim boss and led Manchester United on a four-game unbeaten run before ultimately leaving ahead of Amorim’s arrival.
Man United fans who feel that Amorim has what it takes to guide the club back towards the top of the Premier League may want to back that hunch with a bet. In this case, this DraftKings promo code would make that bet almost risk-free.
39-year-old Amorim was a much-sought-after manager following his glowing form in charge at Sporting Lisbon, who he helped to two Primeira Liga titles over the course of his four and a half years in charge.
He joins a United side that has failed to come close to the heights reached by Sir Alex Ferguson during his lengthy reign in charge, with the likes of David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Erik ten Hag all proving incapable of leading the team close to a title challenge over the course of the past decade.
Among the many stars who could be heading to Man United is Swedish goal machine Victor Gyokeres, who has been an incredible hit in Portugal since moving from Coventry to Lisbon in July 2023.
The 26-year-old has racked up 66 goals in 68 games for Sporting and would no doubt be interested in following Amorim to Man United. It would be fair to say that Danish forward Rasmus Hojlund and Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee have both failed to win over the fans since their moves, which is why a new attacking option could be just what the doctor ordered.
On the possibility of moving to United, Gyokeres stated,
“I want to finish this season at Sporting. I love it here,”
“New club? We will see when the time comes. I want to play, that’s crucial… and there will be also other factors,” Gyokeres added, no doubt leading many to believe a move is very much on the cards.
The futures of a number of Amorim’s squad are very much in the balance. The likes of Anthony, Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof, to name just three, could well all be on their way out, perhaps as early as January.
There is also talk of a possible move to bring in Bayern Munich wide-man Alphonso Davies, a long-term United target, with the player’s agent denying reports that a deal to take the Canadian to Real Madrid is signed and sealed, leaving the door ajar for Amorim and Manchester United.
